About my journal (updated June 2008) - It's currently pretty much friend locked due to certain individuals who have so far decided to be a negative influence in my life by using what I do as material for them to brag about how great they are though nothing I do now has anything to do with these individuals I left behind to make a more positive life for myself or tear me down to make themselves look good, though I still feel guilty about protecting myself and my family from this emotional game. Feel free to ask to friend, I'm pretty open even if I seem a bit paranoid :)

I am a Noahide (a gentile who follows the path of the gentile set out in the Torah). This means my journal discusses my Torah studies, Torah holidays, my pursuit of nice but modest clothing and head coverings, frusteration at the 'December Dilema' and debating the nuances of my faith within the real world. One of my favorite 'celebrity' Noahides is Jon Voight. Lovely article on the beliefs held be Noahides can be found here: http://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/1313/jewish/The-Discovery-of-Planet-Earth.htm

I am an American living in the UK so a double dose of political headaches are banged out in my journal. I have no real attachment to my country of origin and I realize that the education from said country has given me a very tilted world view which is why I'm always reading to correct it.

I am a female who has the occasional need for TMI posts about my body which makes me paranoid. I like my body (except callouses, I wish I could get rid of those) but I get paranoid at times that something is or will go wrong, particularly in concerns of my reproductive tract and skin. I have issues with people trying to tell me what I should do as a woman - that I need to excel in all areas that men typically do as a 'modern female' and to hinder my more feminine desires to be a 'sensible female'. I don't use hormornal contraception and get very frusterated at the amount of medical and other people who lecture me about them and being 'responsible'. My top inspiration as a woman is Irena Sendler (may her memory me for a blessing).

"Be very careful if you make a woman cry, because God counts her tears. The woman came out of a man's rib. Not from his feet to be walked on. Not from his head to be superior, but from the side to be equal. Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved." Hebrew Talmud

I am a wife of a disabled British man, and this leads to concerns about his health and our marriage discussed quite a bit. I love my husband very much, my ultimate anti-hero geek family man, but he's not about reproach though I try not to rant about him, I feel blessed to have him. My husband has a degree to archaeological sciences, collects and polishes up old swords and other artefacts and has a great sense of humour and fun.

I am a mother, currently of two - but am willing for more blessings, and probably most of my journaling has to do with my kids. I breastfeed and child-led weaning, use carriers as pushchairs/strollers are impractical for us, co-sleep with my youngest, and a general 'AP' parent, I guess, but I don't talk about that or our disciplinary styles much. I more likely to talk about how they are growing and becoming their own people and debating with myself the best course of action ahead. Currently, we're intending to home educate through the primary years with our children and choose a path at seconadry level based on each child's individual needs. The parenting 'experts' I look up to most are my Grandpa and Grandma C, Wendy Mogel (Blessing of a Skinned Knee is well-worn in this house), and Emuna Braverman who lays it all out at http://www.aish.com/family/momblog/.

"Kids do not learn social skills through interacting with other kids, any more than children learn to play the piano through interacting with other musically illiterate children.
Children learn social skills through observing and emulating adult behavior".
-- David Mills, "Myths of Parental Convenience", from the book, Science Shams... 2000

I am a very goal-orientated person, working to be more process-orientated to relieve my stress and I discuss my goals, plans, and how things are going on those goals quite a bit.

'The days are long, but the years are short.'

My current goals include getting a 1st degree BSc Sociology with Geography (Will be half-way through when last semester's results come through); Living frugally and saving money to build our own home including rental flats designed for the disabled and room for plenty of guests; building a strong family life with as many blessing as we are blessed with and being a foster parent/guardian to young in need; raising and educating my children myself; becoming more knowledgable in Torah and prayers; learn to play one or more musical instruments (harp, trumpet, violin...); learn Hebrew, British Sign Language, Israeli Sign Language; write books; becoming a person who helps others instinctivly; being a good Noachide who informs and changes the world...is that too much?

I would also love the Moshaich to come at any time and be rid of any other plans!
